Antique 18ct Gold French Napoleon III Floral Turquoise And Pearl Locket

This rare and gorgeous 18ct gold French oval locket was made circa 1870 and it came to us straight from Paris. It's featuring an ornate gold setting with intricate openwork decoration and finely textured borders. The front is embellished with a central turquoise stone surrounded by eight small, lustrous white pearls forming an elegant floral motif. The reverse features finely engraved oval borders and a central blank shield cartouche ready for a monogram or left as found. The hinged locket opens to reveal two oval compartments, suitable for holding photographs. The snap catch closes securely.

Struck with the French eagle’s head mark for 18ct gold 750 on the bail and other marks just below.

Condition: Good antique condition with light surface wear and scratching consistent with age
