A beautiful and rare antique German silver cigarette case with a sunflower repoussé and scrolling foliage decoration, with the name Dorothy engraved on the front.
Dating to around 1890–1910, this case reflects the late 19th-century fascination with bold naturalistic floral motifs, popular in both the Aesthetic and early Art Nouveau movements. The sunflower, a symbol of loyalty and vitality, was a popular decorative element of the period. Hallmarked with the crescent moon and crown national hallmark alongside 800 for silver fineness.
