French Art Nouveau Glass and Spelter Sculptural Lamp

Standing over 50 cm tall and beautifully cast from coloured and patinated spelter this French Art Nouveau lamp is modelled as the Roman goddess ‘Diana’ standing in counterpose, (Italian contrapposto) and holding a pheasant above her head.
The female figure is wearing a short chiton and carries a quiver of arrows to represent her prowess as a huntress and a bow on her back, a typical attribute for the Roman goddess- Diana. The female figure is standing next to a Roman-inspired plinth, from which a beautifully pink frosted glass lampshade in the form of a flower emerges. The lamp has a plaque inscribed Diana, and it stands on a supporting black base.
Dimensions: approx. 50 cm tall
Condition: Some wear and tear due to age. Loss of paint and scratches. The lamp is in working condition.
