A large and impressive mid-century sunburst gilt wood wall clock dating from the late 1960s to early 1970s. This impressive decorative clock features a gilt-finished sunburst surround with layered radiating rays and scrolling foliate details. Design inspired by 19th century French sunburst clocks. Mechanical movement stamped 'Empire' and Made in England which we believe is the later addition. The clock retains its original classic cream dial with Arabic numerals. The clock comes with a key.
Beautifully decorative and increasingly sought after, sunburst clocks remain one of the most iconic designs of the twentieth century.
